Where Vision Meets the Earth: Why We’re Headed to Boom

Earth Medicine Apparel Co. was never just about selling graphic T-shirts. It was about creating a brand rooted in sacred reciprocity, storytelling, and community collaboration, anchored in regenerative values. So when we saw the opportunity to attend Boom Festival in Portugal this month, it felt like a soul-aligned yes.

(As you’re reading this, we’ll be settling into our second evening on Boomland, enjoying a complete disconnection from our electronic devices for 9 days!)

No, we’re not vending (yet!). This trip is about receiving and connecting. And we dream of the day we can sustain vending at an international festival with 40,000+ attendees. We’re combining the strength and power from two of our favorite Earth Medicines - dance and music!

Boom Festival is more than a celebration of music and art. It's a model for what sustainable, visionary gatherings can look like. With its holistic ecosystem, from energy-efficient infrastructure and compost toilets to permaculture gardens, social activism, and 150+ large-scale art installations, Boom weaves ethics, creativity, and impact into every detail. It inspires a question we often ask at Earth Medicine Apparel Co.: How does our creativity serve both people and the planet, simultaneously?

This trip is also an intentional pause.

After months of hard work building our brand, launching our first impact campaign, designing our capsule collection, and showing up for our first vending events in a soup of global affairs growing louder and louder, it’s time to rest, recalibrate, and replenish. As entrepreneurs, we’re often told to grind harder, but that’s not how we work here. We believe rest is a form of resistance. It’s the fertile ground where our next phase of visioning takes root. In rest and play, new ideas spring forth magically, and new perspectives are attained.

So, we’re heading to Portugal to:

• Recharge after a local brand launch

• Explore 150+ visionary art installations

• Reflect on what’s working and what wants to evolve

• Meet aligned artists, changemakers, and culture shifters

• Call in mentorship that deepens our social and environmental impact

• Explore future-forward ways of building a conscious business

I’m bringing a sketchbook, pens, a camera, and an open heart. I look forward to sharing more when I return. (And feeling giddy that our favorite Colorado-based digital artist, Android Jones, is this Boom edition’s featured artist!)
